Do you want the ultimate in high definition entertainment experience? Do you want to bring your favorite movies to life with a crystal clear picture and beautiful surround sound? Well, now you can thanks to the technology provided by the Blu-ray DVD.
Blu-ray technology was developed in order to enable recording, rewriting and the playback of high definition video (HD). On top of this they can also store large amounts of data. With a Bluray disc you get more than five times the storage capacity of a traditional DVD as they can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual layer disc. The extra capacity as well as the combined use of advanced video and audio codecs means that with Bluray you are being presented with unprecedented HD experience. Also thanks to the extra storage space Blu-ray DVD discs offer an exciting array of advanced interactive features and bonus content. The discs are also highly resistant to dirt and scratches.
The reason that Blu-ray is the ultimate in high definition is down to the laser that is used to read the discs. Current optical disc technology, for example DVD, DVDR and DVDRW as well as DVD-RAM are all read and written using a red laser; Bluray however used a blue-violet laser instead, which is where it gets its name from. So what is the difference? Well the main benefit of using the blue-violet laser is that it has a shorter wavelength than a red laser. The red laser is 650nm, whereas the blue-violet laser is 405nm. This makes it possible to focus the laser spot with even greater precision.
Bluray DVD players are available from many manufacturers, for example Sony, Samsung, Philips, Panasonic, Pioneer, LG and Sharp. On top of these quality brand Blu-ray DVD players the Playstation 3 includes a built in Blu-ray disc player. Also recently a number of laptop computer models have started to incorporate Blu-ray Disc players as well as producing add-on Bluray disc drives for desktop computers.
In order for you to enjoy all of the benefits that Blu-ray technology has to offer you will need a number of things such as a HDTV with HDMI cables to ensure the best picture quality. On top of this you will of course need a form of Blu-ray player and Blu-ray discs. It is however possible to play standard DVD’s on a Bluray player; if you are doing this however it should be noted that they will play in their normal quality and not be presented in Bluray standard. Also you are unable to play Bluray DVD discs on anything other than a Bluray player.
Bluray is a glimpse of what future home entertainment is destined for and the industry expectation of Blu-ray is that it will eventually replace DVD. Also since its introduction Blu-ray has continually advanced and there is no sign that this is going to change.
Whether you want to keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends or if you want the very best in home entertainment you need Bluray, so what are you waiting for? Get your Blu-ray technology set up straight away.
Introduction to Blu-rayBlu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of the most technologically advanced optical disc storage medium on the market. Blu-ray was developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), which is a group of the worlds leading consumer electronics, computer hardware and motion picture companies. The BD disc has the same physical dimensions as a standard DVD and CD, but its main advantages are more storage space for data and the ability to store high-definition video. This allows Blu-ray players to play the highest quality movies at 1080p resolution with an HDMI cable. Blu-ray Disks are able to hold up to ten times more storage capacity than a traditional DVD, that is 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. Recent developments by Pioneer players have pushed the storage capacity to 500GB on a single disc by using 20 layers but they are still developiing and perfecting the technology. If you like burning with your existing DVD burner on your computer, you will love a Blu-ray burner. The Blu-ray format is able to store much more data due to its blue-violet laser which has a shorter wave length than the DVD standard of a red laser. This offers the Blu-ray media to focus the laser with even greater precision offering the data to be packed more tightly and use less space on the disc. That is where is can hold ten times as much data, a DVD single layer will hold 4. 7GB where as a dual-layer Blu-ray disc will hold 50GB. Many Bly-ray players are backwards compatible with DVD and CD discs so you can watch your current collection. On Going DevelopmentThe companies in the Blu-ray Disc Association are working on improving Blu-ray discs and making them cheaper. There are over 1200 Blu-ray movies currently on Blu-ray discs and they are always releasing more every week. Currently, the companies are working on making quad-layer 100GB discs, 200GB discs and even a 20 layer 500GB disc. There are also Mini Blu-ray Discs which have been developed for compact camcorders and other compact recording devices. But the most exciting development has to be the recordable Blu-ray disc. As with DVD, they will have a single use disc or BD-R and a disc that can be erased and re-recorded multiple times, the BD-RE. The first recordable discs were released in February 2008 and in March 2008, BD-R gained official support from the Sony Playstation 3. If you are in the market to upgrade or start your home entertainment system, a Blu-ray player and/or a Blu-ray recorder are must have items for any entertainment enthusiast.
Many people are curious as to whether this new technology is worth their hard-earned money. They are looking to see what the true differences are between Blu-ray and standard DVD’s. People want to know what else Blu-Ray offers than just higher definition and clarity.
So what is this whole Blu-ray about, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world’s leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson).
The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
Blu-ray technology is here to stay. People have been very impressed with this new product and what it offers. They are in love with the high quality and will tell you they wouldn’t choose a regular DVD over it.
This technology with the enhance HD features developing everyday will bring the ultimate home theater experience. This type of technology is no doubt the wave of the future and many accepting this technology into their homes.
There is one complaint about this new Blu-ray technology though. There is not a large enough movie collection out in Blu-ray yet. New releases come out in this way but the older movies that are already out aren’t available. What do you do when you want to see an older movie but it’s not in Blu-ray?
Go out and see what this Blu-ray technology is all about if this interests you. There is a likely chance you will find it amazing. There are so many options like even writing your own materials onto blank Blu-ray discs. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience.
In fact, seven of the eight major movie studios (Disney, Fox, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate and MGM) have released movies in the Blu-ray format and six of them (Disney, Fox, Sony, Warner, Lionsgate and MGM) are releasing their movies exclusively in the Blu-ray format.
As you can see a lot of big players in the industry are making the transition. This is becoming a fast transition so this type of technology is never to early to start in one’s life.
Thao? ? ? ? The temple is a truism now, down the readers of newspapers and magazines, online-based news, saying that was started and reviews of entertainment.
